It is used as a medicinal plant since the 9th century. Native of tropical Asia, it has developed better in the mountains. It reproduces in spring and requires plenty of sun to grow. The bush achieves 1 meter in height with an erect woody stem and yellow flowers. The tea of senna alexandrina is laxative and purgative, regulates bowel and is indicated to biliary colic, flatulence, constipation and obesity. It is not recommended to children less than 12 years old and pregnant or nursing women. |
