It is a bush commonly found in the Mediterranean region, particularly in soils with calcareous origin. It almost blossoms during the whole year and does not require intensive care to grow. Rosemary, as tea or balm, is commonly used as a diuretic, antioxidant and antirheumatic herb. In cooking, its leaves flavor grilled dishes, such as meat, poultry and fish. It is also good in sauces, vegetables, rice and salads. Greeks and Romans considered rosemary the “herb of love, loyalty and friendship”. During Middle Ages, it aromatized salads and sauces, and it was also used to repel insects from wardrobes and libraries. |
