Origin: Chile
Part which is used: leaves
The medicinal qualities of boldo leaves were used by indigenous communities in South America which lived in Chilean Andes, and became worldwide known following the European colonization in America. The tree can grow between 12 to 15 meters tall, and the tea, made from its leaves, stimulates bile secretion, besides helping fat digestion. It is also indicated to treat stomach pain, liver diseases, diarrhea and discomforts caused by bowel gas. It must be used with precaution: its excess may cause gastric irritation. |
